Mathias Bös has been responsible for managing the SDZ since 2000. His professional focus is on logistics planning and the design of processes and systems in production and logistics, with a particular emphasis on transformation processes in medium-sized companies.
Career & Expertise
After completing his studies at TU Dortmund (graduating in 1997), he joined the SDZ as a project engineer. With over 25 years of practical experience, he has developed a systemic-analytical approach that consistently considers logistics and production systems in terms of the interplay between structure, process, technology, and organization.
His work focuses on securing decisions by:
- Digital methods: Use of simulation, emulation, and digital twins to minimize risk in investments and process changes.
- Intralogistics & Supply Networks: Design and optimization of material flows and automation solutions.
- Digital production planning: Development of practical applications (such as PPSimple and SimAL) to increase adherence to delivery dates and productivity in SMEs.
Publications & Commitment
As author of the reference book “Die Mittelstandstransformation” and guest on specialist formats such as the podcast “Neue Wirtschaft” he focuses intensively on the sustainable implementation of technological change. Mathias Bös is involved in various innovation and research projects and volunteers for leading professional associations, including the BVL (German Logistics Association), the VDI (Association of German Engineers), and the ASIM (Simulation SPL Working Group).
