Innovation project: Data4Sim

Data-driven simulation of manual processes in logistics

Our idea for shaping the logistics of the future

There are still many manual tasks in the logistics sector, for example in order picking. Here, employees work according to the “person-to-goods” principle. They walk through the shelving aisles and pick items for orders.

There are many reasons why these jobs cannot be automated in the future. Our vision: Although these manual work processes cannot be automated, they can be made more efficient and ergonomic. Why? So that we can continue to provide competitive logistics services in Germany.

Aim of the innovation project

In the ‘Data4Sim’ innovation project, we are focusing precisely on this challenge. Our aim is to optimize the efficiency and ergonomics of manual work processes in logistics. To achieve this, we rely on the intelligent linking of real movement data from warehouse employees with powerful simulation methods. In collaboration with our partners, we are developing an innovative data-supported simulation to analyze these manual logistics processes.

What makes our project innovative

What is special about our approach?

Capturing manual operating sequences using motion mining technology. This technology enables the precise recording of employee movements using wearable sensors. The collected data is then analyzed using AI methods.

The result: The automatic development of realistic simulation models that were previously impossible to realize.

We are delighted to be working on this innovation project with the following partners:

Testing in practice

We are looking for companies interested in optimizing their manual logistics processes to test our newly developed methods. If you are curious, we are at your disposal as a contact partner. We are pleased to share further information and answer questions.

Join us as we shape the future of logistics!

The project is funded as part of the Central Innovation Program for SMEs, a funding program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
